It looks very nice, I like the use of the "standard" diagram pieces. It also seems to play a good game, although I am not a great player myself. (I made a chess game myself once using the mini-max algorithm, but my game plays very badly.)

I played the game at level one, but I think I ran into an error in the way the "en passant" move has been implemented.

I moved a knight to F4 so that it ended up to the left of a black pawn at G4, and the computer then moved the pawn diagonally down past the knight to F3, and the knight disappeared.

It seems this is supposed to be the "en passant" move, but this can only be done against other pawns. (And only when the enemy pawn moved two squares at once in the previous turn.) But in this case it was used to take a knight.

Thanks for reporting the bug. The en passant capture is implemented correctly in the online mode, but I see the computer prefers to play with other rules :).

A greeting.

Yup, ran into similar trouble as I set check-mate with my tower next to the king (logged as td2 to th5(?!)), haha. It swapped my tower against the computers. I guess I still won, since it just stopped, but well.

Other than that, it feels fine. Great start!

great job man, ai needs some improving though. The only difference I can see between 2 and 3 is I beat 2 and I never beat 3... I never beat it on level 3 cuz it freezes half way in and stops responding... one time I left it alone for 15 minutes, came back and woo it had chosen a move but it decided to freeze a few more moves after and I just didnt feel like waiting 15 minutes again...

edit: sorry I didnt realize how old this thread was...

When I tried to download win ver., it said:

Thanks for responding. Level 3 can be very slow on some computers. Although I used minimax algorithm with alpha beta pruning, I have not managed to optimize it more. I think the greatest utility may be the online mode.

It is possible that links can be temporarily unavailable, megaupload's fault:)

Sorry for my English.

Its a good program. But somehowe the algorithm is not quiet wath is seems to be. It play a strong start and mid play but a bad end play. Also i have found out that i can predict the moves it wil made. I mean not as it wil make suprice moves, but it made calculation move who are in the lang run bad. Because some moves look like they are strong. but it opens a hole in the defence side. or block up other moves who are needed to go forward.

Its not that bad. I am happy that someone finaly did made this game in basic. I was planning to make i myself but on some way i never get around to do that. So a big applause for you. Keep up that good work. graphics where good.

Take a good look at you game timing. and move making. make some animation in it. like move the pieces. Its much nicer to see the mode the computer made. for the rest no comment. cause its just great.
