Fess up, anyone program on Christmas Day?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Fess up, anyone program on Christmas Day?

I did ... Just right at the end of the day I checked out a new game on PC and it made me think to test out my game to compare it. I found a few bugs in some new changes I'd made to the game screen and had a really good vibe what they were and how to fix them so I just got on with it. Wasn't intending to work today, but who can leave an unfixed bug alone!!! Good job I played it in the end.

Maybe I need to make a game for programmers where you have a load of bugs in some game grid that you have to "fix" before the time runs out ;-) You'd feel compelled to sort them all out for sure if you are the programmer type...

heh, I only meant to spend a couple of hours this morning to prepare flow for release, got up at 6am and didn't leave my chair till 5pm to go to the bathroom. So I missed most of Christmas. Still with my Family all in the UK and my wife being Jewish there wasn't much to miss really.

Got a nice swanky 7000 entertainment desktop mouse and keyboard for christmas :)

My wife just looked over my shoulder and read the first paragraph and started whining. Going to have to do something nice to make up for it tomorrow.

I've only had time to eat and sleep. I shall eat more soon, then have a little snooze.

No. My computer was in bits.

Yep, programming Christmas Eve until 3am, then most of the day on Christmas Day, did family stuff for Christmas the week before...

FlameDuck(Posted 1 year ago) #9
Yup. Had to finish up some AJAX/Django integration. Still not done properly.

...Yep- sadly! (but it all came to a happy ending sometime early morning Boxing day, when I finally opened the last couple of prezzies.. ;-)

I wanted to, but there weren't any free spots to set up my laptop with all the family around here ;)

i was working :(

edit:
oki im not religious and all i had to look forwards to was the doctor who special on bbc iplayer (which died half way through and hasnt worked since)
but as we closed half the unit and had a skelatal crew in (mostly drivers and pickers/packers) we had this
"we all go when were all finished, if you finish at 10 you get paid till 2"

yeah right
i had to wait for the drivers to come back to continue packing as they had all my empty boxes, so 10 or 11 'everyone' went, leaving me and my trainee alone with the lock up supervisor waiting for the drivers to come back
same today but i had to wait till 2, they got 3 hours free i got nothing (except a chocolate gataux, but we all got one)

Usually I would... but my brother was over, and I was Chef / host.

Catching up today making patches and a makefile for MinGW (ack!)...

Nope - went for a walk on the beach, then went to Mom's for the family gathering, came home and watched Scrooge (1970 musical version with Albert Finney), got Rock Band working for the kids, watched Macross 7 Episode 6 and 7, played a couple games, and went to bed. Doesn't really sound like much but I remember the day seeming far too short...

no programming for me on christmas... too much to do and too much excitement :)

boomboom(Posted 1 year ago) #17
Well I was compiling my game as a universal binary at about 1-2am christmas morning...but when I woke up properly for christmas day I didn't do anything.

I tried to sit down and make another screensaver but LoadImage wasn't working properly (I'm trying Blitz on Vista) and it was extremely frustrating.

Figured it wasn't worth ruining Christmas so I quit.

Blitzplotter(Posted 1 year ago) #20
Nope, spent whole day with family doing chrimble stuff. (;-)

WERDNA(Posted 1 year ago) #21
I spent the morning programming, just trying to put together a little
Christmas program to impress the relatives ^_^

The rest of the day I spent with the family though.

Well done some of you that managed to stay off the PC/Mac/Laptop long enough to see your families! I only programmed when everyone was asleep so I guess that's OK. Got lots of gaming in and model building with the boys.

My wife just looked over my shoulder and read the first paragraph and started whining. Going to have to do something nice to make up for it tomorrow.
Had a big LOL at your story, thanks.
